Abozar Mighani is an Iranian Kabaddi player born on 19th May 1989. One of the top defenders in the sport, Abozar started as a wrestler. He is currently a part of Telugu Titans in Pro Kabaddi League. Abozar started his journey in Pro Kabaddi from Season 5 with Gujarat Fortune Giants and immediately shot to fame. He is a right corner defender and is known for his aggression and temperament. He is a master in creating panic among raiders owing to his aggressive approach and intimidating stature.
The Iranian defender has racked up 162 points from 63 matches in his PKL career. Mighani announced his arrival with being the most successful defender in season 5 for Gujarat Fortune Giants and was the 5th successful defender in Pro Kabaddi Season 5. His 65 tackle points from 24 games helped his team reach the final of the fifth season. His performance grabbed the eyeballs of Telugu Titans and they roped him for Rs. 75 lakhs for season 6. Telugu Titans Coach Gholamreza Mazandarani has relied heavily on the trio of Abozar Mighani, Vishal Bharadwaj and Sidharth Desai.
Abozar Mighani is a right corner defender, the contrasting combination of aggression and temperament makes him a world-class defender who can be very hard to evade even for top-notch raiders like Ajay Thakur, Rahul Chaudhary, and Pawan Sehrawat. His signature move is back held in which he stops the raider by clutching his torso from the back and the move requires immense strength which is in abundance in the wrestler. His wrestling root is evident from the bulky stature and is a sight to watch him take on raiders.
Abozar Mighani is nicknamed as the “Smiling Assassin “, his out of court temperament completely contrasts his in court aggression. The sight of Abozar Mighani aka “Smiling Assassin” blocking and dashing raiders is something to look out for every fan of Kabaddi. His rise to glory in season 5 of Pro Kabaddi league was hugely supported by some solid performances by Fazel Atrachali in Gujarat Fortune Giants as well as the mentoring of Manpreet Singh who was the coach of Gujarat Fortune Giants. His partnership with Vishal Bhardwaj in Telugu Titans also helps keep the raiders quiet although not as effective as the one with Fazel.
Abozar Mighani was a part of Iran Kabaddi team which won the Gold medal in Asian games 2018 after defeating India in the semifinals and South Korea in the finals. This was the first time any team other than India had a gold medal victory in the entire history of Kabaddi. The defender has also won a silver medal in Asian Games 2010. He was also a part of the team that won Silver Medal in Kabaddi World Cup 2016 and Dubai Kabaddi Masters 2018.
